Mary Thomas and Thomas Barbour had eight children. Their children held a number of state and federal political positions. Their son James was the governor of Virginia. Their son Philip Pendleton Barbour “was a US Congressman from Virginia and elected to the US House of Representatives and served as Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives and Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court.” (see history.house.virginia.gov)
Their daughter Lucy Barbour married Thomas Newman 7 Mary 1798 in Orange County, Virginia.
